This is a course for learners who have sensory, physical or cognitive impairments, neuro-divergent or with mental health conditions. A pre course interview is required, please ring 0161 253 5772 to arrange this.
On this course, you will take part in creative activities while learning new skills to support your mental health and wellbeing. It is designed to give you a safe space to express your thoughts and feelings, improve your writing, and explore your creativity.
You will learn about mindful journaling and different writing techniques. These will help you develop your skills in writing stories, factual pieces, and poetry. By practicing mindfulness, you will build your confidence and creativity.
Throughout the course, your tutor will provide ideas and prompts to inspire you. You will create a portfolio of your work and have opportunities to share your writing with others in a friendly, supportive environment.
By the end of the course, you will be able to:
Use different types of journaling to set goals and reflect on your experiences
Practise mindfulness to support "free writing" and creative thinking
Create a portfolio of your written work
Understand how creative writing can help you manage low mood, stress, and anxiety
