This is a course for those learners who have sensory, physical or cognitive impairments, neuro-divergent or with mental health conditions. A pre course interview is required, please contact us on 0161 253 5772 to arrange this.
This 10-week course teaches cooking skills and simple mindfulness techniques to help improve mental wellbeing, plus build positive connections with others. Through easy, sensory-friendly recipes and guided activities, we will help you build confidence in the kitchen, reduce stress, and discover the joy of sharing food with others. Some support will be available for those new to adult learning who lack confidence within social spaces.
By the end of the course, learners will be able to:
Research and create your own chart of beneficial versus harmful ingredients.
Create an energy boosting dish.
Research and create your own mental health diet using a food journal.
Build social communication skills.
Experiment with different textures within food.
Share coping strategies for others to try and discuss results.
Explain the relationship between diet and the production of the chemical's serotonin and dopamine.
