Description:
This course will suit learners of all abilities from absolute beginners to those who wish to extend their existing patchwork, quilting and appliqué skills. You will be introduced to current trends and methods of constructing patchwork as well as being shown how to use traditional methods of constructing used by such famous people as Jane Austen. If you have some items of clothing or soft furnishing which you are loath to part with for sentimental reasons, the patchwork skills will allow you to upcycle these items into something new and special.
You will learn by:
Working on tasks, through demonstration, group discussion, one-to-one
Peer learning, self-evaluation, tutor's continuous feedback
Using tools and equipment with confidence
Identifying and practicing construction of a variety of patchwork techniques
Analysing and establishing methods of constructing a wide variety of traditional and contemporary patchwork blocks
Constructing a patchwork project independently
You will learn how to enhance your piece by applying hand or machine quilting to it
Practice applique skills
By the end of the course, you will have completed at least one project, and learnt a selection of techniques which will enable you to construct some projects independently
