Description:
Learners may have some previous experience of garment making or they may be complete beginners.
Techniques on pattern fitting, fitting a zip, taking in, using batik which is a wax-resistant dye to add vibrant colour to your garment, making changes to a pattern to achieve a good fit and some soft tailoring processes suitable for making or adapting a coat or jacket will be taught.
Learners are able to work on their own chosen projects with guidance.
New learners will start by learning how to use extra sewing machine stitches and machine accessories.
Advice will be given on using commercial patterns or how to make alterations to achieve a well fitted garment.
Choice of fabrics, haberdashery, construction methods and additional sewing techniques are discussed and demonstrated throughout the course.
